Problem Statement

Manual efforts required to test the flow was quite high so Client needed an Automation suite to test the flow of “Reserve a Name”. Providing a solution to this problem we develop Data Driven Automation suite to test the flow, by using this framework one can easily test the flow with multiple test data in the minimal amount of time.

Product Description

MoJamaica is a solution that allows users to Register a Business Name, Register a Company, Reserve a name and make payment for the same for 30 days. Users are also allowed to upload documents to support the important names.

Primary Features

Reserve a Name- Flow of application

The user had to fill two forms to Reserve a name.
Form 1 has a validation check to determine whether the name specified by the User was an “Important” name, Note: Names of famous people are considered as “Important” name.
Application basically had two different flow, one for reserving a normal name and other for important names
Form 1 (Important name) – If User specifies important name then user had to add consent or supporting document to reserve the name
Form 2- User has to fill their personal details, this page offers User to either fill the details manually or auto-populate them. We handled both the flow by using parameterization.
Once both the forms are complete user has to make payment to reserve the name for 30 days.
User can make the payment via Credit Card, where a user had to specify card details, after verifying the card details application redirects to payment portal and payment was made.
After successful payment process, the Transaction receipt is generated with contains information like Transaction id, Price etc. User can download and save the Transaction Receipt.

Our Approach

Tools agnostic:
- Test tools Selenium, WebDriver etc.
- TestNG Testing Framework.
- Other common utilities like
  - “Screenshots” Utility to take Screenshots of the failing scenarios.
  - “Read Data” for reading data from an excel file.

“Result Update” for updating result in excel file.

“Mail” used for sending the output report
We incorporated “Data Driver” Framework and used only one excel file for reading the Input and writing the Output of test data.
We used configurable test suites, and integrated “Web Browser” utility for executing test run in multiple Browsers (Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer)
We designed and created Objects to further modularize and reuse code with very low maintenance.
The framework has a “Properties” file which is used for store Credentials or any other confidential data that was required during test execution.
TestNG XML we further used multiple parameters the make suite completely parameterized.
Report- Excel report is used to generate the output of test result.

Test execution with 15 or more test data is completed within 2 minutes.
On an average manual effort needed to test the flow in one go was around 10 minutes with a single test data.
The Automation suite we developed greatly minimizes the resource utilization and highly diminishes the time needed to test the flow.
